Revealed: The nation is out of pocket due to work-related expenses

Our research has revealed the extent to which in-work expenses are causing employees headaches, and how expenses policies, forgetfulness and perceptions of what they can claim is leaving them out of pocket.


When asked, the majority of UK employees understood that they could claim expenses back, but some didn’t know the details of their employer’s expenses policy – and the next statistic suggests more should read up.

How much do people claim on average per month?

Forgetfulness was common, with more than one third saying they have forgotten to claim back their expenses from their employee – whether that’s for fuel, travel or entertaining clients.
